Music by the sea

The Aleste alternative festival is back on May 27th for another six concerts.

Since 2014, this alternative music festival has brought life to three different spaces every year with tasteful musical selections that fall outside the commercial spectrum. On May 27th, the festival returns to one of its former venues the Barreirinha pool complex.

The goal is to promote the most relevant Portuguese artists in each concert and there will be six of them from 4 p.m. onwards.
The last name to be revealed was that of historic Angolan singer Bonga. Though not in Madeira for the first time, this time around he will be performing themes from his new album, ‘Recados de Fora’, launched in 2016.

The Lisbon-born Capitão Fausto band have come to gain a weight of their own in the world of Portuguese pop. And performing with a ton e described by the organisation as ‘melancholic, epic and emotional’ are the Sensible Soccers.

But there is more rock ’n’ roll to be played by the hands of The Poppers. To be followed by Lavoisier, with a very characteristic dynamics which has come to establish new paradigms in the musical landscape of Portugal. And fusing the old with the new, the eastern with the western, is Islam Chipsy.

Tickets can be bought online, at Barreirinha Bar Café, Mercearia D. Mécia, Museu Café and Estúdio 21 for the price of 20 euros.
