The Atlantic Festival offers fireworks of different nationalities
Held annually since 2002, the Atlantic Festival comprises a set of fireworks displays that are shot into the heavens every Saturday night in June. This year, the Festival falls on the 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th and start always at 10: 30 p.m.
Lasting for 20 minutes, each of these spectacles combine music with fireworks in the bay of Funchal. Each show represents a country. The public is invited to vote for their favourite night online or via raffles in Funchal. At the end of the Festival, the winner is awarded a trophy.
Fireworks can be enjoyed from a number of places in the bay. Listening to the music, though, requires one to be in the downtown of Funchal.
