Mário Laginha is among the many musical guests for the new season at SCAT.
SCAT Music Club opens its new musical season in September and has a treat in store for Jazz lovers with fresh new collaborations. The programme lasts well until June 2017 with every month having its free entry Jazz moment at SCAT.
The new musical season at the island’s favourite jazz club will bring a quality musical programme with distinguished names from the national jazz landscape and new talents currently conquering the cultural industry. Maria João, Mário Laginha and Paula Oliveira are just some if the artists headlining the new season.
The season opens on the weekend of the 16th and 17th of September with João Paulo Esteves da Silva’s trio as musical guests. This nationally renowned pianist will play in the company of Bernardo Moreira, bass and Paulo Bandeira, drums.
All in all, there will be 10 concerts spread throughout 10 months interspersed with performances by regional bands who have earned the stage of the SCAT Music Club. Regulars include the Ricardo Dias 4tet, Rafael Andrade 4tet, the Madeira Jazz Collective and the Jazz Combos and Jazz Orchestra of the Conservatory, the Professional School of Arts of Madeira.
Also, as per tradition, SCAT will be joining the Funchal Jazz Festival for yet another event at the height of summer, in July 2017.
