Funchal has new tourism card

The Town Hall of Funchal promotes the Funchal Card, a project offering over 70 quality tourist experiences.

September 27th is the date for the official unveiling of the Town Hall of Funchal’s new tourist project, the Funchal Card; the venue, the Municipal Theatre Baltazar Dias. This will be a card that guides tourists promoting experiences with proven quality. Now it is easier to enjoy in the capital of Madeira Island.

The new product developed by the Economy and Culture Department of the Town Hall has various uses, all having to do with increasing the satisfaction of tourists visiting Funchal. According to Paulo Cafôfo, the Funchal Card constitutes an ‘innovative product’, following the ‘latest trends in tourism’ to serve a ‘city with more tourism’.

The Funchal Card comprises a quick conversation guide, a discount guide and an updated map of Funchal, with the city’s major attractions and most emblematic sites. The card’s many uses include 70 experiences to be enjoyed with 50 business partners such as gardens, ‘Quintas’, Madeira Wine producers, embroidery, cable cars, wicker sleds, museums, one free entry in every bathing facility of the city and transfers between Funchal and the Airport.

Raquel Brazão, Head of the Department of Economy and Culture, thinks it necessary to ‘communicate with conviction’ and that is what the Funchal card is about as it offers trust, quality and comfort. The card has the set price of 30 euros and is available in over 20 places. It represents savings of about 400 euros for the tourists who use it when visiting Funchal.
