The Traditional Fado of Coimbra at the Jesuits’ College

On the 30th of October, the group Fatum will be performing at the home of the University of Madeira’s administration.

 

An evening in the accompanied by Fado music from Coimbra is the Students’ Union of the University of Madeira (AAUMa)’s proposal for Friday the 30th of October with the performance of Fatum at the Jesuits’ College of Funchal at 9p.m.

AAUMa’ Fado group comprises Diogo Cró and David Ferreira, in the guitar, Pedro Ideia, in the Portuguese guitar, and the voices of Carlos Diogo Pereira and César Dias.

After Fatum’s performance, visitors are invited to socialize in the Students’ Courtyard and also to taste some of the many regional and national products available for sale at Gaudeamus – AAUMa’s Academic Shop.

The event’s proceeds are applied in the social projects developed at AAUMa with the purpose of helping the University of Madeira (UMa)’s students who are most in need.
Entrance is free and made through the gate of Rua dos Ferreiros.

“History of Funchal” Exhibition

Inside the Jesuits’ College, in the room where the old chapel of Our Lady of Bethlehem used to be, is now an exhibition entitled “History of Madeira”. This exhibit was created with the collaboration and research of students, former students, European volunteers and professors of UMa and means to share knowledge regarding the history of Madeira Island. Entrance is free.
