Starting on the 3rd of November, the Germania airline will have three new routes departing from Germany. Dresden, Friedrichshafen and Münster join Bremen, Erfurt and Hamburg as the airline’s destinations on the island.

These regular connections will be carried out on a weekly basis by an Airbus 319 with a capacity of 150 passengers and a Boeing 737 with a capacity of 148 passengers.

Estimates are that with these flights there will be an extra more than 16,000 seats in the winter season of 2015/2016.

According to a press release, Germania’s CEO, Karsten Balke, shared that the firm is very happy to “add there three interesting German cities to the portfolio of routes to Funchal. On the one hand we wish to offer new opportunities for Madeira to explore Germany; on the other hand, we’re quite keen on bringing many travelers to Madeira and its beautiful capital city, Funchal.”

These connections will be done through Lanzarote. Estimates suggest that 50% of passengers will stay in Madeira.
