Calheta welcomes new boating company which combines sophistication with comfort.
The marina at Calheta has recently welcomed a new boat for tourism purposes which seeks to combine sophistication with comfort in the form of a micro yacht. ‘Miranda’ started sailing at the end of July with the aim of disclosing the southwest coast of Madeira whilst offering an experience which is more than a simple boat trip.
Enjoying the sunset, taking a dip in the ocean, soaking up the sun (on deck), snorkelling or simply enjoying the sea breeze whilst you sail along are just some of the activities up for offer.
The project was first thought of a year ago and the routes were mapped out according to the agility of the boat.
Offers include a boat trip along the coast to Câmara de Lobos or Ribeira Brava passing through Fajã dos Padres and Calhau da Lapa; or from Calheta towards Jardim do Mar, Paul do Mar and Ponta do Pargo. Another option is Ponta do Sol where the company collaborates with the local Town Hall in the use of the old quay for tourism purposes, built back in the nineteenth century.
Emanuel Santos, the driving force behind the company, explains that each trip lasts around two and half hours. But it’s also possible to rent the yacht for any desired amount of time. Prices range from 25 to 30 euros.
The essence of the project is t create “an exclusive experience, differentiable and in a way accessible not only in terms of price but also access seeing that Calheta has great connections and we have partnerships with transfers which might be needed”.
