Starting this December, one of the most charismatic buildings in the whole region can be visited using audio guides.
One the 1st of December, the Students’ Union of the University of Madeira (AAUMa) inaugurates an audio guide circuit of tours to the Jesuits’ College.
The route chosen by students goes around the centuries old building that houses the Administration of the University of Madeira and the Church of St John the Evangelist in a narrative that takes visitors through centuries in forty minutes.
The establishment of the Society of Jesus, edification of the College and some of the architectural changes it underwent are some of the topics dealt with in this tour to the old college established in 1569 by royal charter of King Sebastian.
The tour is aided by a 3D map and an audio guide available in Portuguese, Eglish, French and German. Access is free.
