Many fashion and television productions chose Madeira because of the Madeira Film festival’s promotion of the Island.
Recently there have been many international fashion productions and recordings of music video clips in Madeira due to the promotion of the island done by the Madeira Film Festival. Besides these productions, there was also the recording of a travel documentary for Carnival Cruises, one of the largest cruise ship groups in the world.
The list includes a sports fashion production for the Swiss firm Sports XX, which involved many Madeiran children; a Polish fashion production and another one for Maria-Claire Italy, both photographed by Vogue International, as well as a video music clip. These productions chose Madeira after having known about the island through the Madeira Film Festival.
On its way to its fifth edition, to be held between the 25th of April and the 1st of May 2016, Madeira Film Festival is an event that pays tribute to the nature and laurel forest of Madeira, showcasing independent quality films.
Though Madeira serves as the festival’s headquarters, its organizers toured other festivals during the rest of the year, where they divulged the Madeiran festival and Madeir’as potentialities.
The festival is held annually at the Belmond Reid’s Palace and in the Municipal Theatre Baltazar Dias, in Funchal.
