Pestana and Ronaldo together in the hotel business

Football player Cristiano Ronaldo and the Pestana Hotel Group move forward with four hotels bearing Pestana CR7 as their brand.

Two of the biggest brands ever born in Madeira have decided to join forces. Though not new, the decision has just been presented to the public. Cristiano Ronaldo, the best footballer in the world, allied with the Pestana group, the biggest Portuguese hotel group, also born in Madeira and led by Madeiran Dionísio Pestana.

This partnership released to the press this Thursday, the 17th of December, was defined by the player as his ‘most important project’. Four Pestana CR7 hotels will be joining the two brands in a society of equal partners but whose management belongs to the Pestana group.

The first of these hotels to open will be in Madeira, at Praça do mar, taking advantage of the already existing building and will be finished before the summer of 2016. The project includes new lodgings for the CR7 Museum and will give the square a new environment. Next will be Pestana CR7 hotels in the downtown of Lisbon, the Gran Vía, in Madrid, and near Times Square, in New York, to open in 2017. This partnership though established for four units may end up growing.

Seventy five million euros will be invested in the four hotels, for a grand total of 400 bedrooms.

Hotelier Dionísio Pestana bases the new brand on the idea of the footballer’s lifestyle and bon vivant character. Ronaldo has confessed to being ‘very happy’ and maintained that this partnership was only ‘natural’ since both he and Dionísio Pestana are Madeiran born. The truth is that for quite a few times now, the footballer’s name has been associated with investments though this partnership is the only official one.

The project was presented in Lisbon, at the Pestana Palace. With this new alliance, the Pestana group will now run 90 hotel units in 16 markets.
