On the 22nd of July, Parque de Santa Catarina will be the stage for Orelha Negra.
Here’s a date for your diaries: the NOS Summer Opening on the 22nd and 23rd of July. And the first two names of this year’s edition in Funchal have just been made public.
For the last three years now, this quite urban festival has run for the Portugal Festival Awards for Best Urban Festival and Best Medium Sized Festival. This year, it will open with the instrumental bursts of Orelha Negra, from funk to soul, passing through jazz and hip-hop, of course, seeing as to how Sam The Kid is a member of the group.
Also part of the group and coming to Madeira to present their third album, to be launched in spring, are João Gomes (keyboard), Francisco Rebelo (bass), Fred (drums) and Cruz Fader (disk-jockey).
Coming from Berlin for the following day are Jazzanova, an ensemble formed in 1995 with three albums already under their wing. In Madeira, they will reform in the shape of a band under the leadership of singer, bassist and composer Paul Randolph.
In their suitcases they bring ‘The Funkhaus Studio Sessions’, their latest album and the motto for an evening of funk, soul and house in the same place as always: Parque de Santa Catarina.
