Pestana joins ‘Earth Hour’

On the 19th of March, Pestana Casino Park will be hosting the ‘Yoga for Earth’ event.

An hour dedicated to raising awareness about the effects of climate change and other environmental issues. This is what Pestana Casino Park has to offer for the 19th of March, at around 8:30 p.m., with the ‘Yoga for Earth’ event, to be held at the Sissi garden.

The event is tied to ‘Earth Hour’ in a symbolic gesture, with all the non-essential lights being turned off for one hour with the purpose of encouraging individuals to have energy-saving attitudes and deal with energy consumption in an ethical, responsible and eco-friendly manner.

José Carlos Fernandes, Manager of Pestana Casino Park Hotel, stated in a press release that ‘everyone can make a difference in helping to protect our planet and all of us have a key role to play’.

‘Earth Hour’ is one of the biggest environmental campaigns in the world. It is run by WWF and is a gesture imbued with symbolism in which governments, firms and people in general show their concern for global warming by turning their lights off for 60 minutes. Last year’s event saw the participation of 172 countries, about 8000 cities and villages.

Attendance is free. Those who wish to participate in Pestana Casino Park’s event need only show up with a candle and a yoga mat.
