This Portuguese artist has promised his ‘usual energy’ for his return to Madeira.
The last mistery name completing the ranks of NOS Summer Opening was finally revealed yesterday, on the 7th of April. And it turned out it was Richie Campbell, no less. This will be the third time this singer, the nation’s foremost reggae artist, will be on the event’s stage having previously performed in the 2013 and 2014 editions.
The artist reveals that his return to a stage he already knows ‘is always challenging due to expectations’ created by previous performances. Now, the challenge is to make ‘people have fun’ with his ‘usual energy’.
Richie Campbell is the headline for the 23rd of July. On that very same day, the other artists rising to the stage will be Da Chick and Jazznova & Paul Randolph.
On the day before, the 22nd, the stage will belong to Jimmy P, Orelha Negra and Skye & Ross from Morcheeba.
Tickets for this event will cost 20 and 25 euros, for the 1 day and 2 days tickets, respectively. Buying them after the 1st of July will cost you an extra 5 euros.
Taking last year as their example, organisers will once again be promoting the four elements packs, a set of experiences based around the four basic elements of nature (air, water, earth and fire) meant to be the festival’s trademark. The first pack contains a catamaran ride, a safari through nature, a trip on Funchal’s cable cars and the two days pass for the event and costs 95 euros. This year, however a second, more bountiful in ‘adrenaline’, option was designed. The idea is for people to enjoy the ocean by surfing through its waves, go down the mountains on a bike and then paraglide their way to the ‘heated’ festival. This pack sells for 145 euros.
This is the event’s fourth edition. Year after year, this festival has grown non-stop and, as Gonçalo Camacho says, has contributed ‘to put Madeira on the Festival map’. In fact, last year, NOS Summer Opening was a contender for the title of Best Urban Festival and Best Medium-Sized Festival in the Portugal Festival Awards.
