Madeira aims to be the best destination

The region is a nominee in the “World’ Leading Island Destination” category of the World Travel Awards.

Madeira Islands are once again nominated for the World’s Leading Island Destination. Its other contenders are Bali (Indonesia), Barbados, Cook Islands, Crete (Greece), Jamaica, Maldives, Mauritius, Saint Lucia, Sardinia, Seychelles, Sicily (Italy) and Zanzibar (Tanzania).

Furthermore, Madeira has three representatives nominated for different categories in the 22nd edition of the World Travel Awards.

Having won the award for Leading Design Hotel in Europe, the The Vine Hotel now competes again in the same category though now at world level.

The same happens with Choupana Hills Resort & Spa: having won as Leading Boutique Resort in Europe, it now fights for the world title. Also in that category is another Portuguese competitor: Vila Joya.

Pestana Porto Santo Beach Resort & Spa repeats its last year nomination for Leading All Inclusive Resort.

The total number of Portuguese Resorts nominated for the most prestigious event in the world tourism is 32.

Those who would like their voice to be heard can be part of the voting for the awards that are also called the Oscars for tourism through the event official website, until 8th of November.

Results will be made public on the 12th of December in the World Travel Awards gala, this year, to be held in El Jadida, a Moroccan city with Portuguese roots, at the Magazan Beach & Golf Resort.
