Madeira Wine promoted in the USA

There were tastings and other interventions to raise awareness about Madeira Wine in Washington DC, Philadelphia and New York.

 

Last week, IVBAM – The Institute of Wine, Embroidery and Crafts of Madeira promoted various tastings and masterclasses on Madeira Wine in Washington DC, Philadelphia and New York.

About 500 people participated in these activities. Present were producers of Madeira wine, Portuguese wine critic Rui Falcão and experts Andrew Bell, president of the American Sommelier Association (New York), Andrew Myers, Master Sommelier (Washington DC) and Justin Timsit, Advanced Sommelier (Philadelphia).

Madeira wine has a long history as a luxury wine in North American territory and is considered as a super premium type of wine. Last year, exports to the US were of 213.915,25 litres, which translated to 1.902.982.67 €.
