Unique shows with lots of emotion and that make you think are the proposal of Paradise Circus productions
Man dreams, the work is born, said Fernando Pessoa, and this is a theory proven by Antonela Carsta and Roberto Ribeiro, two dreamers who together gave birth to Paradise Circus.
It is an entertainment company, an agency for artists and the production of shows and events, which combines dance, singing, and circus arts. "This was a project created by both of us, with the intention of, in all our productions, taking the audience on a magical and lively journey," says Antonela Carsta, noting that Paradise Circus has several shows of its own production, all of them with their own story and their own extraordinary universe.
In addition to the magical and playful character, all productions aim to make the spectator think about issues that are on the agenda and that mark contemporary society.
For example, the Ocean of Dreams show was inspired by the problem of marine pollution, in order to make the audience aware of this scourge, alerting them to a more rational and environmentally friendly use of plastics. This show was part of the Atlantic Festival in 2019 and the celebrations of the 600th anniversary of the discovery of the islands of Porto Santo and Madeira.
The NIKLAUS Christmas 'show' tells the story of an enigmatic character with a strong personality who did everything possible to bring back the true principles of Christmas in family. The show was also created in 2019, and once again brought up important themes such as family and togetherness.
The LAETUS carnival show, meanwhile, uses the circus arts to reflect on the euphoria of society during this festive season. Created in 2022k, this show was named in honour of the painter who portrayed in his art all the exaltation that carnival generally provokes in human beings.
In September 2021 Paradise Circus launches on stage the URD, a show that tells the story of a merchant of the time of Columbus who had an enormous desire to follow all the navigator’s steps
Associated with the Flower Festival, one of Madeira's strongest tourist attractions, comes FIORE, based on the story of an Italian florist who arrived on the island in an era full of flowers and who ends up embracing the island as her new home. This show was born in May 2022.
During this year, Paradise Circus created the KAI show, inserted in the Atlantic Festival and based on the four elements of Nature. With a lot of colour and diversity, the 'show' is entirely inspired by earth, water, sea, and fire.
In 2022, IGNIS also appeared – a heartfelt tribute to Portuguese music that aims above all to reflect on the "rekindling of a new post-covid era".
Antonela Carsta tells Essential that all shows feature regional, national, and international artists. "In addition to all these shows held in public spaces, accessible to all, that is, for all ages and languages, over the years we have also invested in private events. To each client we deliver an exclusive show," he highlights.
In the last two years of pandemic crisis, Antonela Carsta points out that Paradise Circus suffered with the consequences of COVID-19, like all artists. However, it was a time to "work at home, write new projects, and dream to make it happen in the future."
Finally, she is proud to say that all the shows have had full houses. "The audience welcomes us with a smile on their face. They leave each one of our productions delighted and satisfied with what they have just seen, and they look for us on social media to find out the dates of the next shows," she concludes.
