Integrated in the Vila Porto Mare resort, The Residence hotel is recognized for its high –quality service and ideal for long stays.
Seen from a distance, Quinta do Lorde takes on the form of a small village settled alongside the sea shore. Inspired by the colours and local arquitecture of the Island, the scoring of buildings has a certain Mediterranean feel to it. Quinta do Lorde is the most recent tourist investment on the Island of Madeira, located in Caniçal on the far west coast, complete with a hotel, resort and a marina. In perfect harmony with the local landscape, the resort was set up in protected environmental area.
The complex gathers several buildings surrounded by green areas which total up to 30 thousand square metres. This five star hotel has 106 rooms and 5 suites along with a further 29 - T1 and T2 - apartments plus 3 villas with 3 rooms. The further 74 apartments and 20 villas included in the real-estate area are all up for sale. Each square metre is priced at around 4 thousand euros with buildings prices oscillating between 400 and 800 thousand euros.
The built-in marina at Quinta do Lorde is what makes it so unique. A blue flag indicates the quality of the surrounding waters as well as the starting point for aquatic sports such as whale and dolphin watching or daily excursions to the Desertas Islands. Sea access is granted by the local stony beach, a known trait of the island´s coastal shore. A natural swimming pool, tanning area along with two other swimming pools distributed throughout the resort, form a central area used for aquatic as well as commercial activities.
From an architectural point of view the local chapel, thought out to also host weddings, is the main reference point throughout the resort. Quinta do Lord was designed and developed by WATG – Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo, a world leading design company which already counts with 160 resorts worldwide, and brought together by Inraq. The development was thought out based on the surrounding sea panorama and hotel décor involves soft colours which inspire tranquility. Rooms and public areas are vast and designed and adapted for comfort and long stays.
Quinta do Lord offers full hotel services to the real-estate residents. The surrounding area includes 6 restaurants and bars complete with lounging areas where one can sit back and relax in private.
The concept of Quinta do Lorde was initially thought out in the 60´s when John Talbot, an English Lord, travelled to Madeira. Fascinated by the peaceful scenery of Sitio da Piedade, John acquired a plot of land where he built a house which he named “Nossa Senhora da Piedade.”
John Talbot however, never fully enjoyed the wonders of his property which was sold in 1977 to Congregração dos Cónegos Regentes de Santa Cruz who used it for religious cults and practices. It was further sold to the current owners in 1990. Work on the site began in 2002, firstly with the construction of the marina and secondly with the resort, between 2008 and 2012.
