A relaxing beauty

Makeup care? The importance of a scrub? These are some of the topics of the Maló Clinic’s new beauty section.

Ever since the beginning of mankind’s evolution, one’s beauty and well-being has, for many reasons, occupied a prominent place in determining one’s status in society.

Nowadays, be it at work, in the street, or sometimes at home, we have the need to look our best almost as if it were an obligation to do so in an ever more visually demanding world.

It is out of the need to give people, especially women, knowledge of some of the basics of beauty care which are deemed essential for everyday life that Maló Clinic SPA developed a new beauty section. Its first two editions were dedicated to ‘Beauty without Wrinkles’ and ‘Bodily Contours’.

According to Cristina Machado, in charge of the SPAA, ‘in the sessions people have the opportunity to receive some advice’ on beauty with a special focus on ‘the need to avoid looking careless’.
Using makeup and the care one must have with it, with techniques for different types of face, peelings and the importance of scrubbing, bodily treatments and facial rejuvenation, were among the topics dealt with in the first two editions.

The third session is set for March 2016 and the ‘idea is to combine the two previous editions’ focusing ‘not only on women but also on men’, reveals Cristina Machado.

Maló Clinic’s Spa is gifted with showers and an area called ‘Aqua Sensations’ where all kinds of water-based treatments take place, including Turkish baths, sauna, hydro massage tubs and contrast tanks. The space also has a gym, hairdressers, beauty area and nine relaxation offices that promote various activities such as body and facial treatments and massages.

‘People coming to our events then want to know about all our other treatments’, says Cristina Machado. One of the treatments most sought after by the customers of the Meliã Madeira hotel, of which the clinic is a part of, is the Maló Sensations.

In a relaxed environment, Maló’s best-seller is based on the spices and aromas of cinnamon, star-anise and vanilla, in travel through the senses. What follows is a body scrub, a shower and a final massage with the particularity of using spices inside pindas, heated linen cloths that allow for the aroma and touch to promote tranquility.
