After a mere four editions, NOS Summer Opening has come to be a symbol of summer in Madeira.
Year after year, the NOS Summer Opening has come to earn its iconic place in Madeiran summer. Not only has it grown exponentially, it has also ‘contributed to put Madeira on the map when it comes to Portuguese festivals’, says Gonçalo Camacho, one of the event’s organisers. And this year, the festival is back to its stage, Parque de Santa Catarina.
The 2016 edition will be held on the 22nd and 23rd of July. Last year’s edition was actually nominated for the awards for Best Urban Festival and Best Medium Sized Festival in the Portuguese Festival Awards.
On the event’s first day, the stage will belong to Orelha Negra, Skye & Ross from Morcheeba and Jimmy P. who won the award for Best New Artist in last year’s Portugal Festival Awards.
Taking the stage on the following day are Da Chick, Jazzanova & Paul Randolph and Richie Campbell, the major headliner of the event’s 4th edition.
As with last year’s edition, organisers are once again promoting what is bound to become one of the event’s trademarks, the four elements pack. As with last year’s it comprises experiences related to the four basic elements of nature (water, air, earth and fire). This year, though, there is also a pack with more ‘adrenaline’ for people seeking a more thrilling experience.
